Storms and more storms ..January 2012

We thought we'd seen the last of the storms in December, January decided to bring some more! Some stunning skies and lightning to watch.

Stormy start to December 2011

Sadly the garden took the brunt of the storm in early December and we have lost some of our rare trees. Richard will be busy for some time to come clearing up the result.

More chickens and some ducks join the AH flock ... 6th December 2011

Plenty free range eggs as more chickens and some indian runner ducks arrive. In the snow and darkness unloading 18 chickens and 3 ducks was a most entertaining exercise!!! All arrived safely, one even left a tip with the driver for the journey here (an egg!). Laying the next day so we think they approve of their new home and they have been venturing into the woods with the chickens here already!

Wine and whisky tasting ... 3rd December 2011

Went down a treat in the icy blast that brought in December. Fantastic wines from L'Art Du Vin, followed by the whisky's of Adelphi Whisky with a whirling strip the willow with PiperActive to finish. Probably the best start to the festive season you can get.

Highland weddings...October 2011

We've just enjoyed our fourth wedding this year in beautiful October light. Our brides and grooms have thoroughly enjoyed themselves along with their guests. If you would like to discuss your wedding with us, please give Sarah a ring.

Art exhibition...1st October 2011

The art exhibition by Gail Wendorf went down a storm ending with a whirlwind of music courtesy of The Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band. Over £600 was raised for Mercy Ships and Marys Meals.

BBC Homes & Antiques...September 2011

Wonderful photoshoot in the Arisaig House kitchen with Sarah looking at some old family recipes. The article on The 1810 cookbook will appear in the next issue of BBC Homes & Antiques, due out 3rd November.

New feathered additions have arrived...September 2011

We now have our own clucking brood of hens to supply the kitchen with fresh, free range eggs.

Jean and Charlie's Golden Wedding

A huge thank you for a simply magnificent time at Arisaig House – the perfect venue for a perfect few days to celebrate our parents’ Golden Wedding Anniversary with all the family - we loved it and all down to you for making everything so special for all of us, and particularly for our parents and their oldie entourage! Sarah, you are a WONDER-WOMAN - producing that superb "Golden Feast", with lobster and all the other delicious local seafood, Dad's favourite roast lamb, home-grown vegetables from your walled garden and the surprise exploding cake. All the rooms are lovely and walking into "Morar" and finding a vase of gorgeous sweet-peas set the perfect scene for the next three days. We loved the relaxed atmosphere of Arisaig House – a real home from home - with its sitting room, cosy bar and terraces, and it was no problem to move the big hall table so that we could dance some reels played by Dad and Uncle on the fiddle and piano. Three generations leaping about was a wonderful and memorable sight. So many different things to do: walking down to the stunning shore, bird-watching on the terrace, sea-kayaking amongst the seals, photographing the passing steam train, walking in the peaceful woods, looking for cowrie shells on the beach, golfing at Traigh - the boys even had time to indulge their love for jumping and filming, with Arisaig House and gardens being the perfect backdrop.

Simple facts
